The International Center to Honor Juan Gonzalez as 2025 International Citizen of the Year
(INDIANAPOLIS – September 10, 2025) – The International Center will host its annual International Citizen of the Year event on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, honoring Juan Gonzalez, President of Central Indiana & Business Banking Sales Leader (IN, MI, & NW OH) at KeyBank. The event will bring together leaders from across Indiana to celebrate his contributions to the state’s international growth.
Presented annually since 1985, the International Citizen of the Year award honors individuals whose work has achieved global impact and elevated Indiana on the world stage. Juan Gonzalez exemplifies this through his leadership in business and extensive community involvement.
As KeyBank’s first Latino market president, Juan has expanded the bank’s community engagement and led diversity and inclusion initiatives across Indiana. Under his leadership, KeyBank invested $250,000 in ten community organizations to support digital banking access and financial wellness education.
As a dedicated civic leader, Juan serves on numerous boards across Indiana, including prominent organizations such as the Indiana Business Journal, Indiana Chamber of Commerce, IU Health Foundation, Indiana Sports Corp, Indianapolis Colts Foundation, Indiana Latino Institute, Indiana Civil Rights Commission, 500 Festival, La Plaza, among many others. He also lends his expertise to advisory boards for AES Indiana, IU Health (Metro Region), IU Indy, La Plaza, Pacers Foundation, and Shiel Sexton.
Juan’s work at KeyBank and in the Indianapolis community has earned him accolades such as being named on the Indiana 250 List of Influential Hoosiers, and the Hispanic American Service Award – Outstanding Community Leader.
Martin Baier, president and CEO of The International Center, said, “It is an honor to recognize Juan as one of our state’s most influential business and community leaders. His visionary leadership is a testament to the strength of diverse perspectives and the positive change he fosters. In addition to being a champion for diversity, Juan has been on several local host committees for major events that put Indianapolis and Indiana on the global map.”
