THE INTERNATIONAL CENTER PROMOTES PETER KIRKWOOD
(INDIANAPOLIS – April 29, 2022) – The International Center has promoted Peter Kirkwood to Chief of Protocol.
Kirkwood joined The International Center staff as an International Relocation Specialist in 2007, providing relocation and cultural adjustment assistance to families moving to Indianapolis. In 2008, he became The International Center’s inaugural Protocol Officer and is a member of the Protocol & Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association.
The Center’s Office of Protocol supports clients and partners in state and local government, academia, business, economic development, agriculture, and non-profit organizations by providing expert advice, consultation, and services to successfully host dignitaries from around the world. To date, the Office of Protocol has supported over a hundred dignitary visits including royalty, former heads of state, diplomats, clergy, Nobel Laureates, business executives, and provincial and municipal leaders.
In addition to his work with the Office of Protocol, Kirkwood is a Cultural Intelligence (CQ)® certified facilitator through the Cultural Intelligence Center. He leads The Center’s intercultural communication workshop, Engaging Across Cultures, as well as personalized cross-cultural coaching on best protocol and etiquette practices for organizations engaging in international activities or conducting business overseas.
Kirkwood also curates and manages The Center’s United Nations flag collection, providing services for flag displays throughout the state.
