February 12 will mark the 75th Anniversary of the signing of the Panglong Agreement in 1947 in Myanmar (also known as Burma). For the seventh year, the Myanmar and in the diaspora around the world in honoring this historic political achievement for Myanmar and its people.
Myanmar Union day observation in Indianapolis this year will feature speeches, cultural dances, an ethnic fashion show, music and more. The hybrid event is open to the public and all of our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens are invited.
The aim of the 2023 Myanmar Union Day observation in the USA is:
- To share and celebrate cultural diversity, and historical heritage; whereby promoting a greater understanding among receiving and incoming communities towards a successful and sustainable integration.
- To provide a common platform for all communities from Myanmar and to promote greater engagement and unity among all ethnic and religious groups from Burma/Myanmar;
- To serve as an avenue for all youths from Myanmar to inclusively engage and share through fun and interactive cultural and entertainment activities as part of preserving one’s cultural and historical heritages as well as to provide leadership development opportunities; and
- To once again reaffirm the support for federalist democracy, freedom, and equality in Burma/Myanmar based on the Panlong spirits and principles; and provide moral and other support for the ongoing work of democratic forces towards building a professional army that represent the ethnic diversity of Myanmar under the civilian oversight; a new constitution, strong public institutions, delivering of public goods and services, national reconciliation, and prosperity in the Southeast Asian Nation.
