The International Center Receives Lilly Foundation Grant and Launches Civic Engagement Program for Expatriates
INDIANAPOLIS – (March 21, 2016)… The International Center has received a $237,000 grant from the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation. To be awarded in installments over the next three years, the grant will serve to support general operations for the organization as well as provide funding for the launch of a new International Center program, Civic Engagement for Expatriates.
With grant support from the Lilly Foundation and through a partnership with the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, the new Civic Engagement for Expatriates program offers participants the opportunity to develop their leadership profiles and enrich their experiences as global leaders as they learn to share their talents with the civic community in Indiana. This program, targeted to international assignees working at global companies or organizations officially launched February 18. It will continue over the next 6-9 months, culminating with match-making between participants and civic community organizations.
“We owe much of our success to the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation. We are grateful for the support and recognition of The International Center and the role our organization has played – and continues to play – in positioning our City and State to be successful in today’s global environment,” stated Diane Thomas, president and CEO of The International Center. “We also appreciate the confidence the Lilly Foundation has shown our organization by asking us to develop the Civic Engagement for Expatriates program which will create opportunities for expatriated employees to become engaged in and serve the Indianapolis Community,” she added.
