Asian Culture Awareness Association (ACAA) from Butler University is hosting a FREE open event with MAASUx (Midwestern Asian American Student Union), an organization that works to recognize the needs of the Asian American community by assisting schools with the establishment of Asian American student organizations.
For our event, our theme is Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling, a reference coined by Jane Hyun (2005) addressing the barriers that Asian Americans encounter in professional and personal spheres. This workshop event is an opportunity to raise consciousness and to become educated about Asian American experiences. Topics will cover issues such as “model minorities” and overcoming racism. It will highlight Asian American voices from Butler and from other midwestern universities, utilizing separate, 50-minute sessions in both discussion and lecture styles. This event is open to the public! If you are interested in attending, please register at the “Ticket” option in this link! |
