Please join us at this signature event to introduce Indiana University and the surrounding communities to the Mandela Washington Fellows. During the event, you’ll have an opportunity to meet the 25 young leaders who are a part of the 2018 IU Fellowship Cohort. These inspiring individuals represent 20 African nations and are doing amazing work in their home communities. They are looking forward to meeting campus and community members, and a small group of them will share individual stories about the professional passions that led them to be civic leaders.
About the Mandela Washington Fellowship Program
For the third year, Indiana University has been selected as an institute partner for the 2018 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. Twenty-five IU Mandela Washington Fellows from across Sub-Saharan Africa will participate in a six-week executive-style professional development institute focused on civic leadership, hosted by IU’s Office of International Development and IUPUI’s Office of International Affairs (OIA). The fellowship provides the IU community with opportunities to network and collaborate with young African leaders while also empowering the fellows through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, personal and professional opportunities, and local community engagement.
The fellows will be at IUPUI between June 20 and July 2, with leadership development workshops provided by OIA, the School for Public and Environmental Affairs, Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, and the Kelley School of Business.
