Music and food are global languages – they require no translation.
Music and food are global languages; they require no translation. Music and food are the best diplomats in a world often fractured by geo-politics. And this evening’s program will offer both! This will be a unique program by the Indiana Council on World Affairs, and one we take great pleasure in offering to our community.
We have an immediate reaction to music. We want to move, and we often begin by moving our feet, perhaps our hand, our heads. We may want to dance! We may want to sing!! We smile, we laugh, we connect with those around us. Music is contagious!
A committee of musicians and artists chose Latin America, China and Africa to display both instruments and musicians. Musical selections will take the audience to far reaches of our world, and we will tell the stories behind the instruments and the notes.
~ What did the composer want us to know?
~ Why is the instrument unique to this part of the world?
~ What does the sound and the beat tell us about the people living there?
~ Can we close our eyes and visualize where this music emanates?
Join us!
It will be Spring again, and this program is a great way to celebrate its welcome return.
