MARTIN BAIER APPOINTED TO GLOBAL TIES U.S. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
INDIANAPOLIS and Washington, D.C. – (February 7, 2018) – Martin Baier, president and CEO of The International Center, has been named to the Board of Directors of Washington, D.C.-based Global Ties U.S. As a nonprofit partner of the U.S. Department of State, Global Ties U.S. sustains a network that coordinates international exchange programs and brings current and future leaders from around the world to communities throughout the United States.
“I am humbled by this distinction,” said Baier. “Global Ties U.S. has been a pillar of citizen diplomacy for more than 50 years and I am honored to be a small part of its rich history.”
“The International Center’s Board of Directors have been extremely impressed by Martin’s quality leadership firsthand since he assumed the role of president and CEO,” said Marsha Stone, International Center Board chair. “I have no doubt Martin will do a spectacular job in this new role.”
She added that The International Center, which is a member of the nationwide Global Ties U.S. network, is the only Community-Based Member organization in the state of Indiana that is recognized by Global Ties and authorized to facilitate visits to Indiana by international visitor groups as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program.
