On February 23, 2017, the Latino Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence will be hosting its first “Latino Sexual Assault Forum.” Sexual abuse is a huge problem in Indiana. Out of 50 states, Indiana is #2 in the nation for sexual assault for girls grades 9th-12th! Latino clients are at a higher risk of being sexually assaulted, due to the many barriers that surround them (language, immigration status, culture taboos, etc.) The forum will be a place, where advocates from all over the state can receive the proper training on helping the Latino community overcome this horrible crime! We have the pleasure of having our keynote speaker Mora Fernandez will provide powerful insight on this crime and tools on detecting sexual violence in our communities and how to help. There will also be a panelist of trained advocates speaking from different points of sexual abuse ranging from childhood to adults!
