INTERNATIONAL CENTER CEO NAMED HONORARY FRENCH CONSUL
INDIANAPOLIS — October 17, 2017 — Martin Baier, president and CEO of The International Center, has been named Honorary French Consul to the State of Indiana. In his new role, Baier will act to assist citizens of France visiting or living in Indiana, and will facilitate trade and friendship between the peoples of the United States and France.
Guillaume Lacroix, Consul General of France in Chicago, traveled to Indianapolis for Baier’s October 17 induction ceremony as part of a private reception for the members of the French-American community in Indiana, presented by BlueIndy, Delta Air Lines, the Indianapolis Airport Authority and The International Center at the Indianapolis International Airport.
Martin Baier has served as the president and CEO of The International Center since January 2017. Baier joined The Center as vice president of programs and services in 2011, after serving as owner of All German Solutions LLC, a cross-cultural consulting company.
A native of Germany, Baier amassed an impressive military career with the German Air Force, ultimately achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his more than 20-year career with the German Air Force, he served in several key capacities, including Deputy Flight Commander in the training center, senior planning staff officer, and executive planning staff officer.
He served as Liaison Officer to NATO forces in the International Combined Air Operations Center, as well as Liaison to the U.S. Air Force on combined projects including the Holloman AFB Training Steering Committee, serving alongside representatives from the Pentagon and Air Combat Command.
During his tenure in Indianapolis with The International Center, Baier has put his considerable project management and business development experience and acumen to use in growing The Center’s extensive offering of programs and services in the categories of Protocol, International Visitor Leadership Program (citizen diplomacy), International Relocation, and Global Competency Training.
He has proven to be a trusted advisor to numerous high profile community partners, including the Mayor’s Office, the Governor’s Office, Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Indy Chamber and the America China Society, among others. Baier currently serves on the advisory boards of The Confucius Institute and Alliance Française Indianapolis. He also is immediate past chair of the Cologne Sister City Committee.
Baier earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics/Business and English at the University of Duisburg and Essen, Germany. He also achieved his Bachelor of Military Science followed by Master of Military Science.
