THE INTERNATIONAL CENTER ANNOUNCES NEW DATE FOR INTERNATIONAL CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD EVENT
(INDIANAPOLIS – September 1, 2020) – The International Center has announced that the International Citizen of the Year (ICY) award dinner and program honoring Dan Coats will be held on May 4, 2021. Dan Coats is an American statesman and former diplomat and will be the 34th recipient of the award.
In July, The Center announced postponement of the event previously scheduled for September 29, 2020, the decision arising out of an abundance of concern for the safety and wellbeing of the honoree, program participants, and invited guests.
The International Citizen of the Year Award honors individuals whose work has achieved global impact and elevated Indiana on the world stage.
The May 4, 2021 event will also feature announcement of the Global Impression Award (GIA) winner from a pool of three finalists who will be selected and named in the fall of 2020.
“We look forward to the opportunity next May to host, at last, a spectacular event that delivers well-deserved honors to Senator Coats and our newest GIA recipient, and which celebrates The International Center and all it does to support Indianapolis and Indiana on the global stage,” said Julie Griffith, International Center board chair and co-chair of the ICY event.
