Loving Day stands as an annual national celebration on June 12, commemorating the pivotal 1967 United States Supreme Court decision, Loving v. Virginia, which dismantled all state laws prohibiting interracial marriage. We firmly believe that as our diverse community continues to embrace one another, it significantly enriches the tapestry of our city and state, shaping the essence of living in or visiting our vibrant locale. This is precisely why we have joined forces with Pacers Sports and Entertainment and Former Mayor Greg Ballard to bring a distinctive and captivating event, honoring Loving Day, to Indianapolis.
Celebrate Loving Day at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday June 8th! The International Center, in partnership with Pacers Sports and Entertainment and former Mayor Greg Ballard, will host an event honoring the landmark Supreme Court decision: Loving V. Virginia in 1967.
In recognizing the historical significance of the Loving verdict, the event will be a day to celebrate married couples and will include vow renewals, officiated by former Mayor Greg Ballard.
The event will take place June 8th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with doors opening at 12:30 pm.
