About
In May 1971, Mayor Richard Lugar, following President Richard Nixon’s direction, welcomed 500+ delegates to Indianapolis for the Mayors’ Conference on Cities. Recognizing the need for a lasting organization, The International Center was established on March 6, 1973, continuing the mission to elevate Indiana globally. For 50 years, it has honored Richard Lugar’s legacy by informing, convening, and connecting global objectives in Indiana. To mark this milestone, The Center developed a planned giving option through the Global Heritage Society. We invite those interested to join The Center’s legacy in connecting global objectives through programs and citizen diplomacy.
