Conductor Jun Märkl and singers from the IU School of Music will perform the heartbreakingly beautiful Act III of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Mayumi Miyata, Japanese player of the shō, performs traditional Gagaku, a type of Japanese classical music, as well as being a featured soloist during Japanese composer Hosokawa’s Cloud and Light.
Women of the world coming together and sharing their journey; their trials and successes since coming to the United States. Dressed in the attire of their homeland, the women share their favorite native dishes.
The International Women’s Gathering is an annual event that brings women together in celebration of International Women’s Day. Under the International Women’s Day 2022 theme “Break the Bias,” a dynamic panel of diverse speakers will share their journeys of their rise to success. Speakers include Rupal Thanawala, Tiffany Vivo, Gloria Griesinger and Myla Eldridge.
