Our Sister City connection for this concert is Piran (current day Slovenia). A historic and stylistic link will be explored from Tartini (Piran’s favorite son) to Leopold Mozart (and thus to W. A. Ronen continues its partnership with UIndy in a program endowed with dance. Dancer Angela Agresti’s new choreography explores the human experience of spiritual development to the music of Frank Felice’s first violin sonata, ‘A Liturgy of the Hours’; Schumann’s ‘Frauenliebe und -Leben,’ sung by Mitzi Westra, offers a similar story through a woman’s point of view. The dance continues with the original thirteen-player version of Aaron Copland’s ‘Appalachian Spring,’ under the baton of returning UIndy favorite Vu Nguyen.
