Vintage Movie Night: Der Golem

July 16, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 pm

- $5

Film historian Eric Grayson has dubbed the Vintage Movie Night selections at the Garfield Park Arts Center for June, July, and August as “Silent German Summer.”  Leading off the trio of German Expressionist films will be the 1918 Pola Negri film, Gypsy Blood, on Saturday, June 18, at 8 p.m. It is based on the novella, Carmen, by Prosper Merimee (the same inspiration for Georges Bizet’s opera, Carmen). Each film will have a live score with pianist Roger Lippincott.

Also being offered in the “Silent German Summer” are The Golem (1920) on July 16 with Paul Wegener and Lyda Salmonova and Destiny (1921) on August 20 with Lil Dagover and Bernhard Goetzke, both at 8 p.m.

Admission is $5; concessions, $1. Free parking. Family-friendly entertainment. For more information, visit www.gpacarts.org or call 317.327.7135.
